Robert A. DeVos, 69, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN.

He was born on July 17, 1951 to the late Bernard and Helen (Graham) DeVos in Mishawaka, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with his parents; he was preceded in death by his brother, Bernard DeVos.

Robert attended Washington High School in South Bend, IN and received his GED while serving his Country in the U.S. Army from 1968 – 1971. 

He retired in November 2013 from the Sergio Corporation in South Bend, IN, where he worked as a Carpenter for 15 years. 

On October 19, 1991, Robert married Barbara (Kowalski) Kinzie at Ardmore Brethren Church in South Bend, IN.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Barbara DeVos of South Bend, IN; his daughter, Julie (Toby) Zalas of Rochester Hills, MI; two stepsons, Aaron (Rita) Kinzie of Mishawaka, IN; Adam Kinzie of South Bend, IN; six grandchildren, Nate and Lily Zalas; Austin, Adam Jr “A.J.”, Aidan, and Reese Kinzie; two sisters, Julie (Charles) Carr of Mishawaka, IN; Cathy Quick of South Bend, IN; a sister-in-law, Maria DeVos of Niles, MI; and several nieces & nephews.

Robert was an avid Chicago Bears and Notre Dame Football Fan. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, playing guitar; and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  After retirement, Bob and Barb fulfilled bucket list trips to the Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, Washington, D.C., and Savannah, GA.  Robert had a great sense of humor and a heart of gold.
