Robert A. “Bob” Cochran, 74, of rural Cairo, formerly of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 27, 2016. He was born on December 6, 1941, in Moberly to the late Charles Walker and Martha Malone Cochran.

Bob grew up on the farm in Cairo. After a tour in the Army in Vietnam, he worked for Shelter Insurance, was a farmer, served as President of the Pork Producers Association and a truck driver for Callaway Carriers. He enjoyed playing golf and pool and wintering in Texas. He was especially happy to travel in support of his grandson at his activities.

He married Martha “Marti” Akeman on May 22, 1994 in Ashland Missouri and she survives of the home. Also surviving are his two children, Steve “Tony” Cochran of Columbia and Stephanie Roberts and husband Jack of Lee’s  Summit, MO, and was the proud grandfather of one grandson, Parker Edward Roberts.  Other survivors are his brother, R. Edward Cochran and wife Joyce of Cairo, his sister, Norma Johnston and husband James of Madison, two aunts, Deedie Esry of Hamilton, MO and Maxine Cochran of Cairo, nieces including, Jill Burke and Amanda Bailey and husband Brandon, nephews including, Mathew Cochran and Jeffrey Johnston, four great-nieces and two great- nephews, cousins, two brothers-in-law, Franklin Gifford of Independence and James E. Gifford of Boonville, one sister-in-law, Mary K. Durham of Belt, MT, other relatives and friends.
