Rita Mead, age 83 of Milford and formerly of Fairfield, beloved wife to the late Richard “Dick” Mead and Charles Smith, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at West River Health Care Center. Born on February 11, 1929 in Fairfield, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Bakos Bielik. Rita was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe HS Class of 1947 and, prior to her retirement, was a loan officer at Westport Bank and Trust. She was a passionate and avid swimmer, enjoying the waters of Long Island Sound and was a member of the Milford YMCA. Rita was a kind and compassionate person who was a friend to everyone and will be greatly missed. “Nothing worries her and nothing hurries her.”
She is survived by her step-daughter, Lizbeth Mead of Shelton, Brother, Richard “Chico” Bielik and his wife Nancy of Fairfield, sister-in-law, Katharine Bielik of Milford, her cherished grandchildren, Andrew Evans and Jenna Guarneri, many loving nieces and nephews and her beloved cat Reilly. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph N. Bielik.
