Rita Mae (Roux) Aubry, 87, of Mendota, formerly of the Ottawa area, passed away early this morning July 12, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mrs. Aubry was born on February 20, 1925 in Ottawa to Howard and Mary (Godsell) Roux. She married Justin Aubry on August 25, 1943 at St. Patrick’s Church in Ottawa. She was a member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in LaSalle. She worked at Duncan Drug Store, Randall Dental, IVCH and St. Margaret’s Hospital in the Environmental Services. Rita was a housekeeper for Rev. Dale Maloy at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in LaSalle and later at Holy Cross Church in Mendota. Rita was raised in Wallace Township by her father with help from Joe and Julia Hughes and their 10 children following the death of her mother when Rita was 9 years old.
Also instrumental in her life was her stepmother Mary Harmon Roux who was an outstanding mother. She is survived by 5 children, Robert (Jan) Aubry of Rochelle, Donald (Kitty) Aubry of Jacksonville, IL, James (Sue) Aubry of Seneca, Anne (Bob) Troyer of Cape Coral, FL, and Michael Aubry of Jacksonsville, IL; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Justin; two daughters, Mary Jane Aubry in infancy, and Marilyn Michael; one granddaughter, Leanne Michael; and one brother, Fred Roux. Pallbearers will be her four sons, Robert, Donald, James, Michael Aubry, Bob Troyer, and Howie Roux. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital
