Rita May Bourgeois (Amirault), 79, of Middleton, MA passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side on Friday, November 22nd following a brief illness. Rita was born and raised in Lynn, MA and was the youngest of four. She graduated from Saint Jean Baptiste High School in Lynn. Rita married the love of her life, Ron Bourgeois in August of 1961. They remained happily married and in love for 56 years. Rita was a hard-working woman who worked as a machinist at Fairview Machine, and later with Ron at their own business, Burgess Machine in Middleton. Every fall Rita enjoyed making her famous pickles from an old family recipe. She was also skilled at crochet and needlepoint and has left us with many beautiful pieces. Rita was known to enjoy playing a few hands of video poker on occasional trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Foxwoods. Rita is survived by her daughter Lisa Bourgeois and partner Jim Willis, her son Peter Bourgeois, her brother Paul Amirault, several nieces and nephews, her dear friends, and her two favorite cats Rose and Peaches. She is predeceased by her husband Ronald Bourgeois, her sisters Martha Saunders and Marie Thedford, her nephew Dana Thedford, her parents Gene and Rosalie Amirault and her infant son Kenny Bourgeois. Rita’s family would like to thank her kind and helpful neighbors and friends and the Care Dimensions staff who helped honor her wish to remain at her home until the end. We are forever grateful.
