Rita Bendall, age 88, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2017.Rita was born August 3, 1928 in Owosso, the daughter of Charles A and Margaret (Maggie King) Mills. She graduated from Owosso High School in 1946. She met Frank Bendall while attending St. Paul Catholic Church religion class. They were married on September 17, 1949 after he returned from serving in the US Army Air Corps in occupied Japan.Rita and Frank had four sons: Michael (Deborah), Gary (Deborah), Robert (Dee Dee) and Richard Bendall; nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren whose pictures dominated the bay window of her Oliver Woods apartment.Rita followed in her father’s footsteps and worked at the Ann Arbor Railroad for over 30 years in a variety of positions.Rita was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Corunna VFW Auxiliary, St. Paul Altar Society, and Sister Rosemary Circle. After her retirement, she volunteered at Memorial Hospital for over 25 years.Rita enjoyed golf, travel, her home and most of all friends and family. Her home was the family gathering place. Her vast and treasured friend and family network remained by her side throughout her life. In good times and bad, they were there. They socialized together; laughed together; helped one another when needed. All were loved.She was predeceased by her husband Frank Bendall, her parents, Charles A and Maggie Mills, brother Jerry Mills and sisters Josephine Franks and Phyllis Luchenbill.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Dieudonne Ntakarutimana officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery.
