Rita J. Stier, 83, of Middleton, MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday August 20th 2016, after a brief illness. Rita was born in Lynn, MA on December 29th 1932 to Frederick and Rita Carlson. She was married to the late Edward Stier, a former police officer and native of Lynn. She was a 1950 graduate of Lynn Classical High School and attended Burdett Business College. Rita worked at General Electric in Lynn for 10 years as an Administrative Assistant and then left her career to start a family. She later lived in Lynnfield MA and spent summers, with the family, at their camp on Pine River Pond in Wakefield, NH. Rita is survived by her children, Carol Roy and her husband Timothy Roy of York, Maine, Joanne Davis of Newmarket, NH and her son Ronald Stier and his wife Audrey of Hampstead, NH. She is predeceased by her son Robert of Nashville, TN. Rita also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Christie, Amanda, Erica, Erin, Eric and Melissa. Rita will be sadly missed by her sister, Claire Palumbo of Lynnfield, MA and her brother Frederick (Babe) Carlson of Manchester, CT. She is predeceased by her sister, Joan Cantrell of Peabody, MA and her brother, John Carlson formerly of Revere, MA. Rita also leaves behind several loving nieces and nephews. Rita will be best remembered for her upbeat positive attitude toward life and her wonderful sense of humor. She was an avid listener of Classic Rock and Jazz piano. Her family was most important to her and they will all miss her dearly.
