Rita (Fowler) Fleming, 86, of Higganum, wife of the late John A. Fleming died on December 21, 2008. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward W. Fowler and Mary (McKenna) Fowler. Rita leaves her son, Dr. John E. Fleming, his wife, Linda and her beloved granddaughters, Ashley and Erin. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Joan Fowler of Tampa, FL along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward and John Fowler and her sister, Isabelle Bongelli. Rita was a member of the Wantagh League of Mercy Hospital, was President of the Catholic Singles of Middlesex County and Treasurer of Higganum Grange and Haddam Club 60.
She did volunteer work for Friends of Russell Library, Haddam Senior Center, and MSVP. Rita was a member of St.
