Rita was born March 22, 1934 in Belleville to Elmer and Estelle (Munie) Schifferdecker. She graduated from Belleville Township High School and St. Louis College of Pharmacy (SLCOP). In July 1956, she married Kenneth Bingheim in Detroit, MI. They then moved to Centralia, IL.

While in Belleville, Rita played trumpet in the high school band and orchestra. She also played in the Belleville Philharmonic orchestra along with her father and sister. In Centralia, she played in the pit band for several musicals produced by the local theater group and she played in the Kaskaskia Community College Concert Band and Jazz Band. In Peru, she played in the summer concert band.

After graduation from SLCOP, Rita worked for her father in his drug store. When she moved to Centralia, she worked for St. Mary’s Hospital. That is where she became a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, holding several offices both locally and at the state level.

Rita was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Epsilon Sigma Alpha. She was also a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Peru where she was active in the women’s guild.

Survivors include her five sons, Dennis (Maria) Bingheim of Quincy, Jeff Bingheim of Rockford, Gregory (Cindy) Bingheim of Benton, KY, Bradley (Diane) Bingheim of Milwaukee, WI and Mark (Tiffany) Bingheim of West Bend, WI; seven grandchildren, Amanda Harman, Michelle Bingheim, Elly, Eric and Emma Bingheim, Heather Bingheim and Bryan Bingheim; three great-grandchildren, Cecilia Bingheim and Clark and Cheyanne Male; a sister, Gail Paul of Lake Zurich; three nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth on December 25, 1996 and a sister, Joyce Schifferdecker.

Pallbearers will be her sons and her nephew, David Paul.
