Mrs. Rita Angela Serafini

October 17, 1931 – July 21, 2014

Rita A. (Gallotto) Serafini passed away peacefully at home after a short illness. She was the daughter of Angela (Tarrico) and Severino Gallotto, both migrated from small villages in Nothern Italy. Rita was predeceased by a brother Albert and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bean. Rita leaves her husband Joseph after 57 years of marriage; a daughter Christine Bellefeuille, son-in-law Roger, and grandson Jeffrey; a son Joseph Jr., daughter-in-law Deborah Withington, and granddaugher Lindsey. Rita also leaves her best buddy Pookie; her Chihuahua lapdog. Rita was also an animal lover, and for most of her life, had an animal as part of the family. Rita enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles and was an avid Red Sox fan. In baseball season, it was quite lively around the Serafini home, as her husband Joe was a long time Yankee fan. As a senior in high school, Rita found a part time job as an understudy to a secretary. After several months with the bookkeeper going into retirement, Rita became the secretary and office manager for Castle Novelty Company. Her favorite subject in high school was accounting. She loved working with numbers and was very good at it. Had she the opportunity for college, there is no doubt she would have become a CPA. Rita retired to raise her two children, and while in retirement, the present office manager, due to illness had to leave her position. Since her husband Joe was part of the company her retirement was short lived. She was called back to, once again, to manage the office. When Rita and Joe retired from Castle Plastics, they were fortunate enough to be able to vacation in a lovely community in Florida called Rotonda West. For several years, they were able to escape the winters of the Northeast for warm sunshine. They were fortunate to do some traveling while in Florida and made many new friends all over the country.
