Rickey Edward Barnes, 68, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 11, 2020 at Elkhart General Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born on August 14, 1952 in Cassopolis, Michigan to the late Sylvester Barnes II and Dorothy (Goins) Breckenridge.
He is survived by his wife Beatrice Barnes; daughter Rochelle Barnes-Davis and a step-son Corey B. Davis; 9 grandchildren; Rakeena (Amin) Hammou-Tahra, Joslin Barnes, Briana Barnes, Michael T. Davis, Jr., Nadia Davis, Anja Davis and Johnathan Davis and 5 great grandchildren; Kayan, Iyanna, Keenan and Iman. He also leaves behind 6 brothers and sisters, Kenneth (Lena) Barnes, Diane Marshall, Minister Tedario and Rev. Linda Barnes, Cynthia Barnes, Mairus “Mike” Barnes, Beth Ann Schemenaur and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Rickey retired from Doctor’s Hospital of Jackson, MI., where he worked in the maintenance department and was a union steward. He was a member of Lighthouse Community Church of God in Christ in Redford, MI.
Ricky was very handy, and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed working on cars.
