Rick Lee Derr  March 22nd 1956 – May 22nd 2015 Born to Roger and Charlene Derr in Oklahoma City. He was raised in Colorado. Rick was a strong person that his family and friends relied upon when they were in need. He was a salesman through and through. He had a way of making people feel good about themselves. His confidence and strength made you feel safe and secure.  He was a leader. He had great success in car sales. He loved to tell his stories and he was quite the story teller. He missed his calling as a motivational speaker. He loved fishing and the Broncos or any sports event for that matter.

As a parent he was loving and giving. He worked very hard to provide for his children and give them everything they could ever want. He took them on vacations regularly and spent every Sunday going to brunch and going to the movies. As a grandparent he focused on being there for his grandchildren. He often took care of his granddaughter and attended most of the sports events for all of them. He loved watching his grandson play football. His granddaughter describes him as inspirational.  His love for his wife was unimaginable for most people. The two of them did not know how to live apart. Their life together was filled with love and conflict but in the end they always found themselves together. As a son he always strived to live up to his father’s success and strength. He cared for his mother to the best of his abilities. As a brother he tried to be a role model and mentor. To Scott he was his best friend. He loved his brothers very much and would do anything for them. As a friend he was generous and would always be there to listen.

He will be dearly missed by his dogs Riley, Sugar and Kona and his cats Toby and Brookly. They never left his side.

He leaves behind his father Roger Derr and Step Mother Pat Derr, brothers Scott (Delane)  Derr, Sean Derr, and step brothers, children Christy Derr, Jason Derr and Leslie Derr, grandchildren Jaylen Derr Somers, Mikey Derr and Drew Derr, many cousins, uncles and aunts and friends.

A quote by his idol: “I’ve always felt that a manager has achieved a great deal when he’s able to motivate one other person. When it comes to making the place run, motivation is everything. You might be able to do the work of two people, but you can’t be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the next guy down the line and get him to inspire his people.” He lived his life trying to inspire those around him.
