Richard W. Schoettmer, 78, Greensburg, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born, July 22, 1935 in Millhousen, Indiana, he was the son of Herman J. and Sarah M. (Wesseler) Schoettmer. Richard was a farmhand for 19 years and then he went to work at the Decatur County Highway Department for 10 years. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was married to Leona F. Matern on November 26, 1959 and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Wayne Schoettmer, Greensburg, David Schoettmer, Greensburg, Randy (Cindy Stevens) Schoettmer, Greensburg; three daughters, Janet Powell, Greensburg, Sandra (Fred) Kendall, Waldron, Sharon (Mike) Woodhull, Greensburg; two brothers, Ralph Schoettmer, Los Angeles, CA, Ronald Schoettmer, Farmington, GA; seven sisters, Margaret Greiwe, Greensburg, Mary Ann Sullivan, North Vernon, Kathleen Berkemeier, Greensburg, Ruth Steinkamp, Texas, Virginia Wamsley, Greensburg, Lucille Case, Elizabethtown, KY, Agnes Wagner, Greensburg; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert Schoettmer.
