Richard W. Enterline, 98, of Greensburg, PA, was a devoted husband to Loretta, whom he loved since they were 15, father of three, grandfather of four, great-grandfather of five, and great-great-grandfather of two. He was a Veteran of World War II, world traveler, community philanthropist, and avid gardener. Richard made friends with everyone he met. Richard was born October 16, 1922, the son of Frank and Nancy Wagner Enterline. Richard graduated from Rural Valley High School, class of 1941. Like many young men of his generation, Richard answered the call to protect our nation, and he joined the Army in 1944. He served in Europe with the 94th Infantry Division, fighting in the Rhine Valley and was also stationed in Dusseldorf and Czechoslovakia. At the end of the War, Richard served in perimeter security for the Nuremberg trials. He received the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star and was discharged with the rank of First Sergeant. Richard was a past President of the 94th Infantry Division National Association. Decades after the War, Richard returned to Germany to show Loretta where he had served. This was just one of many trips they enjoyed together on their travels across the US, Europe, and parts of Asia. Richard attended the American College of Bryn Mawr and received his Chartered Life Underwriter designation in 1964. He retired as a district manager from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Following retirement, he operated his own agency. Richard had the honor of being a 33rd Degree Mason and was a member of Masonic Lodge 225, where he was a charter member of the Over the Hill Gang. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of New Castle, the Syria Shriners Temple of Pittsburgh, and the American Legion Cosgrove Post of Rural Valley. Richard was the oldest member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg. He will also be remembered for his bountiful garden and especially “Uncle Dick’s Tomatoes” that he cultivated. Richard is survived by his daughters, Peggy Jane Deni and Joanne B. Krynicky and husband Ronald; son Richard Enterline; granddaughters Leah Krynicky and Sarah Ludwig and husband Terrance; grandson Thomas Deni; granddaughter-in-law Karen Deni; great-granddaughter Loretta Krynicky; great-grandsons Luke and his wife Candace, Anthony, and Michael Deni, Jr. and wife Beth; great-great-granddaughters Lucy and Katie Deni; family friend Debbie Gardner. In addition to his mother and father, Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years Loretta; brother Blair Enterline; son-in-law Thomas Deni, Sr.; grandson Michael Deni, Sr.; and great-granddaughter Jessie Deni.
