Richard Victor Jasinski, 54, of Whiteland, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, while vacationing in Hawaii. He was born Nov. 7, 1960 in Chicago, IL, graduated from Tinley Park High School in Chicago, and earned his Associate’s Degree from Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL.
Rich was a 30 year employee of General Motors, beginning his career at the Fisher Body Plant in Chicago, and a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He was employed as a Journeyman WEMR/Master Mechanic/Electrician. During his career, Rich worked at GM plants in Chicago, Indianapolis, IN, and most recently in Marion, IN.
Rich was a volunteer First Responder with the Grant County Emergency Management Agency under the Department of Homeland Security. In the past, he worked as both the Deputy Director and the Acting Director of the Johnson County Emergency Management Agency. He was a trained National Weather Service Weather Spotter, had his HAM Radio license, and taught Basic Life Support and Instructor courses for the American Heart Association. Rich was a Certified Locksmith and a leader in the Christian Scouting group, Trail Life USA for Whiteland Troop IN0515.
Rich was a member of Grace Assembly of God in New Whiteland, IN. He enjoyed cruising, land travel, snorkeling, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, firearms, movies and geocaching. He also enjoyed music, especially jazz. He had a love for reading the Bible and studying biblical prophecy. Polish was Rich’s first language. He enjoyed being bilingual and celebrating his family’s Polish heritage.
Rich leaves behind his loving family, including his wife, Jayne (Green) Jasinski of Whiteland, whom he married on Aug. 25, 2001; parents Jan and Zdzislawa (Galajda) Jasinski of Greenwood, IN; two sons, Jonathon Jasinski of Lansing, IL and Alexander Jasinski of Whiteland; one daughter, Katherine (Jasinski) Kleber, her husband, Tim, of Bourbonnais, IL; four grandchildren Jasmine Jasinski, Timothy Kleber, Ruby Kleber and Abbi Kleber; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer (Don) Sanders, and three nephews Parker Sanders, Caleb Sanders and Ethan Sanders all of New Whiteland.
