Richard Lee Thompson, age 75, of Pataskala, went home to the Lord on March 18, 2017, at home surrounded by family. Richard was born to the late Richard R. and Mary E. (Irvin) Thompson in Columbus. After high school, he entered the US Army and served in Vietnam, where he was awarded 4 Bronze Stars. Richard was a retired machine operator from Pepsi Cola and a member of the Whitehall VFW Post 8794. Richard lives on in the hearts of his loving wife of 53 years, Mary (Gothard) Thompson; daughter, Janet O’Brien; granddaughter, Cheyanne Thompson; sisters, Marilyn Weidner, Carol (Bob) Wheeler; sisters-in-laws; Faye and Eva Chapman and numerous nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his brother, Butch Thompson.
