Richard C. Thedens, 71, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at home.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1945, in Wisconsin Rapids to Carol (Truchinski) Thedens and the late Donald Thedens, and attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Lincoln High School. On Jan. 15, 1966, his marriage to Karen Ketelboeter took place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marxville, Wisconsin. She passed away on Dec. 18, 2008.
Richard was a truck driver, retiring from Ruan Transport. He loved his Shih Tzus, Max, Scooter and Wookie; and he was an avid gun and reading enthusiast, enjoyed bird watching and Harley-Davidson motorcyles.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Giesler of Wisconsin Rapids; son, Ian Thedens of Sun Prairie; daughter, Nina (Mark) Mattmiller of Plover; six grandchildren, Brittany (Tara) Krueger, Jaret and Sydney Mattmiller, Evan (Lori) Thedens, Drae and Anania Rauwald; great-grandson, Tirion Thedens; brothers, David (Mary) of Idaho, Michael (Jane) and Edward Thedens both of Wisconsin Rapids; sisters, Dorothy (Jack) Revels of Illinois, and Marjorie O’Neal of Madison.
In addition to his father and wife, Richard was preceded in death by his father-and-mother-in-law, Harry and Melva Ketelboeter; and step-father, Charlie Giesler.
