Richard Steward, age 80, of Burt, Iowa, died on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona.
Richard Perry Steward, the son of Harold and Lottie (Hawcott) Steward, was born on June 29, 1937, in Burt, Iowa. He attended school in Burt. Richard enlisted with the Iowa Army National Guard. On May 17, 1973, he was united in marriage with Connie Sue McFarland in Sherburn, Minnesota. Richard enjoyed his trucking career and loved to help farm. Richard and Connie were avid campers and were the hosts at Emmet County High Lake, Smith Lake, and Siems Park. He enjoyed fishing and especially loved his time spent with his grandchildren. Left to cherish Richard’s memory are two sons, Jerry McFarland of Fenton and Richard Steward Jr. of Burt; three grandchildren, Kia, Phillip, and Angela McFarland all of Fertile; three sisters-in-law, Mary Gifford and Lois Shipler of Burt and Jane (Randy) Carrado of Denver, CO; two brothers-in-law, Jerry McFarland and his wife Cheryl of Fairmont and Ken McFarland of Algona; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie in 2011; a sister, June Steward; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Gifford, Roger Shipler, and Phillip McFarland.
