Mr. Richard Russell “Pop” Rainey, age 74, died May 13, 2011 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. He was a native of Coweta County and was born September 17, 1936 and was the son of the late Hulette Hall and Opal Merceline Shelnutt Rainey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Rainey. Richard’s professional career spanned 46 years as an engineer with Playtex International. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He was survived by his wife, Jura Mae Sprayberry Rainey and his children Ann Hastings and husband Allen and Rusty Rainey and wife Donna. His grandchildren are Matt and Laura Rainey, Trent and Whitney Hastings and Brittney and Kevin Bunn. There are two great grandchildren, Hayden Bunn and Hunter Bunn. Also surviving is his brother, Dan Rainey of Panama City, Beach.
