Richard Robert “Rob” Patton, Jr., 59, of Salisbury, passed away in his home on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
Rob was born in Salisbury to Julia “Judy” Patton and the late Richard “Dick” Robert Patton, Sr. on July 22, 1962. A proud North Rowan graduate, he went on to study government and politics at Appalachian State University. After 10 years of serving as Sugar Mountain’s Town Manager, he moved to Boise, Idaho and joined his father’s custom knife-making business, Patton Knives, in 1996, where he went on to win top honors at the Professional Knifemaker’s Association Show in 1997 and 1998.
Rob’s passion for bladework included military history and artifacts, of which he had a wealth of knowledge, and all things outdoors, where he was known to put his latest projects to work.
Rob is survived by his beloved mother, Judy Patton of Spencer, and sister Jennifer Crawford and husband William R. “Bill” Crawford of Spencer, nephew Colin Crawford, and nieces Caitlin McDermid and Catherine Crawford-Muñoz.
