Richard “Rick” Wesley Davenport, age 65, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2022 at University Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cheryl Cooper Davenport, twin sons, Colin and Keaton (Rachel) Davenport, their mother, Carrie Shepard Davenport, and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Delores “Dee” Shay, sisters Sherry Ricketts and Susie Moorehouse, and brother Steve Davenport. He was the son of the late Richard “Dick” Davenport. He attended Arsenal Technical High School, Ball State and Indiana Universities.

Rick was a friend to all who met him. He was never short of words or funny stories. He had a giving and loving heart and was a great dad, Papaw, and wonderful, generous, loving husband. Rick loved sports of every kind! He especially enjoyed football, basketball, and auto sports. He loved music of all kinds, and could cut a rug on many occasions! He was a fun man.

Rick and his wife, Cheryl, enjoyed traveling, especially, more recently, in their motorhome. Last summer they completed a three-week tour of the Southwest US.

He owned a successful promotional products business for over 30 years.

Two institutions were near and dear to his heart. These were Tech High School, at which he played quarterback, and DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), in which he remained active. He was very proud of being national vice president of DECA in his high school days.

He was loved and will be dearly missed.
