Richard R Strauss, age 77, of Three Oaks, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 24, 2017, in Galien, Michigan in the presence and comfort of his family and friends with euchre cards in his hand.Dick was born February 10, 1940 in Buchanan, Michigan, the son of Russell and Mildred (Marsh) Strauss. He married Sylvia Gloede on December 7, 1968 in Three Oaks, Michigan. Dick was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Army. Dick’s passions were anything involving sports and spending time with his grandchildren. He never missed a sporting event for any one of the grandkids.
He coached River Valley Rocket Football for a number of years especially through the duration his sons played. Dick enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dick will be remembered for always being present for any construction and demolition project involving the family and his expert advice was always given and taken. Dick was strongly opinionated and was always anxious for discussion or a debate. Most importantly, Dick’s family will always remember him for being a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Richard will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sylvia; his children: Tony (Teresa) Strauss, Tammy (Charles) Litzkow, Rick (Autumn) Strauss, Jeffery (Carol Knight) Strauss, Randy Strauss; his grandchildren: Tony Jr, Tiara (Jeffery Jackaway), Amanda, Connor, Cassandra, Samantha, Levi, Trevor, Taylor, Austin, Cowen, Cody; his great-grandchildren: Sophia, Liam, Aria; his sister Trudy (Terry) Cornwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Richard is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Robert and Jerry.
