Richard “Dick” Everton 86 passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 17, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jean Thelma Everton and one adopted son, Kenny Garrett, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmie Everton, his daughter Peggy Vories, and son Richard W. Everton. Richard attended George Washington High School, and was among 80% of the men in his class who was enlisted to serve in WWII. Richard served proudly in the United States Marines and upon returning home began a lifelong career as a over-the-road truck driver, retiring from TransCon lines in 1989.
