Richard R. (Pete) Sager, 93, of Manitou Beach, passed away December 22, 2019, at Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home. He was born September 3, 1926, the son of Emit and Thelma (Frey) Sager in Liberty Center, Ohio. Pete served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. He worked for Dekalb and Sager’s Collision and in farming after he retired. Pete loved playing golf and bowling, and later in life, baking, especially pies and specialty breads. He would bake pies and breads on a weekly basis, but never eat them. He loved sharing them with friends at the local restaurants and giving them away to friends and neighbors. He also loved his grandchildren and having them at the farm. His grandchildren always commented that you never went anywhere with grandpa for an hour because everywhere he went he would see someone he knew. He is survived by his son Robert; daughter, Barbara (Roger) Logan; grandchildren, Bryan (Lynn) Sager, Kelly (Dave) Hudson, Steve (Liz) Logan, and Mark (Tina) Logan; four step children, Scott (Tina) Hicks, Dawn (Doug) Rufinacht, Denise (Chad) Nowak, and Bryan (Lori) Cooper; eight great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; and twelve step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ed, Harvey, Arden, and Donald; one sister, Margie Speiss; two wives, Dorothy Sayler and Ruth Stowell; daughter in law, Chris Sager; and step daughter, Linda Stoner.
