Richard Patrick Higgins passed peacefully in his sleep on April 6th, 2020. Born on May 3rd, 1934, he was one of ten children from John and Theresa Higgins. He is survived by his oldest daughter Terri Deliantis and husband George Deliantis, his son, Danny Gunn, and his youngest daughter, Erin Higgins and husband James Vilaichit.
He was blessed with six grandchildren, Nicholas and Trevor Deliantis, Richard, Charles, and Diana Gunn, and Hailey Vilaichit. He is also survived by his sister, Maureen Santos (nee Higgins), sister in law, Sister Elizabeth Fortune, PBVM, and dozens of nieces and nephews. He is now in heaven with his one true love, Barbara E. Higgins (nee Fortune), who passed away in 2012.
Richard will always be known for not only his gruff, stubborn personality, but his kind heart. He was a workhorse, from selling newspapers in bars in Hells Kitchen, NYC, as a child in the mid 1940’s to retiring at 83 years old as a bus driver for Ocean Ride in Toms River, NJ. He was a great friend, loving husband, and an amazing father and grandfather.
