Mr. Richard P. Evarts, age 96, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Beatrice Barrow Evarts, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Son of the late Lucius and Bertha Pinny Evarts, he was born on December 3, 1913 in West Haven. Richard was a well respected Engineer for the former Anaconda American Brass Company in Ansonia until his retirement. He was a passionate lifelong sailor who cruised New England Waters with his beloved wife, Beatrice aboard his famed 1931 Mathew “Miltrice” which hailed from Milford Boat Works. Survivors include his devoted children, Susan Evarts of Deep River, Richard Evarts and his wife Gail of Madison, and Robert Evarts of Milford, five cherished grandchildren, Briana, Tricia, Jason, Robert, and Steven, and his brothers, Burton Evarts and his wife Rita of Milford and Norman Evarts and his wife Elizabeth of Wilson, WY, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Fred, Russ, Bill, and Alan.
