Chambers, Richard Orel “Dick”

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Covenant HealthCare-Harrison with his family by his side. He was 85 years old. Richard Orel Chambers was born on July 4, 1932 in Caro, Michigan to the late Orel B. and M. Rosaline (Caufield) Chambers. Dick was a proud 1950 graduate of Caro High School. Following graduation, he worked for the Tuscola County Road Commission. Dick married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Arlene Ann Dittmar on June 20, 1952; she survives him. After their marriage, He and Arlene moved to Detroit, where he worked for over 30 years with the Ford Motor Company – Automatic Transmission in Livonia. Dick was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and gardening. Above all he loved and cherished his wife, daughter and grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and storytelling.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Arlene Ann Chambers of Saginaw; one daughter, Sheila (John) Shevchenko; two grandchildren: Ashley Shevchenko and her fiance, Brian Boehler of Saginaw and Lesley Shevchenko of Dearborn Heights; two sisters-in-law: Doris Gardner of Millington and Marian Toyzan of Saginaw.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Chambers.
