Richard Marvin Olson was born in Boise, Idaho on April 6, 1935, son of M.F. Olson and Evelyn (Olson) Valenti. He was the oldest sibling of four: Donna, Karen, and Ron. He graduated from Boise High School in 1953 and attended Boise Junior College from 1953-1956 and Washington State University from 1957-1958. He was introduced to his bride to be, Helen Solosabal, through her cousin Al.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen; sons, David and James Olson, MD (Tracy); two grandchildren, Patrick and Maggie; brother, Ron Olson (Kathy); and several nieces and nephews.
