Richard N. Bollinger, 80, of Bethlehem, died April 19, 2012. He was the husband of Helen Bollinger. They were married 57 years. He was born in Steubenville, OH and spent his early years in Baltimore. He graduated from Duke University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He was also captain of the lacrosse team and was an All-American. In 1955 he joined the Bethlehem Steels Loop Course management training program and was assigned to general sales. After taking a leave of absence to serve in the US Army, he returned to the home office, and in 1959 he was promoted to Greensboro, NC. There he was President of the Duke Alumni Association and a member of the Industrial Committee of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. In 1968 he moved to Pittsburgh to become district sales manager. He was a member of the Duquesne Club and Fox Chapel Country Club. In 1976 he came back to Bethlehem as manager of plate sales. In 1983 he was promoted to general manager of Sales & Marketing. He finished his career as a director of marketing at the Lehigh Valley Industrial Park and as a business consultant with companies in the steel industry. Dick was an active volunteer, working with Bethany Ministries, soup kitchens, Radprint, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and served as a director for KidsPeace. He was a member of the Saucon Valley Country Club. Dick was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem where he taught Sunday school, and he was also a deacon in Greensboro and Pittsburgh. He loved golf, his family and traveling with friends. They called him Burr. Survivors: his loving wife, Helen; sons, David of Woodstock, VT, Bruce in the Tetons, ID and Steven of Coopersburg; 8 grandchildren.
