Richard Michael Fiorillo died peacefully on Sunday, June 26, from complications of pulmonary hypertension. Born October 23, 1935, in Boston, MA, “Dick” had a life-long love of boating, fishing, gardening, and sailing. He graduated from Winthrop High School in 1953, and Boston University in 1956.

Soon after graduation, Dick enlisted in the United States Army, attending boot camp in Fort Dix, NJ and completing helicopter repair school at Fort Eustice, VA. He was then stationed in Augsburg, Germany, where he served as a helicopter mechanic and an instructor in the transportation school. Dick received an honorable discharge in December of 1957 and two months later married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Fanale. In October of 1959, he joined Northeast Airlines as a mechanic, and moved to Atlanta, GA in September of 1972, after Northeast Airlines was acquired by Delta Airlines. Dick retired from Delta Airlines in 1992.

Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Fanale Fiorillo of Gainesville, GA; his brother Arthur Fiorillo; sisters, Betty Gerace and Marion Ferragamo; son, Richard and his wife Carol Fiorillo of Big Canoe, GA; daughter Diane and her husband Jim Barton of Sandy Springs, GA; and son, Rob and his wife Mary Kathryn Fiorillo of Cumming, GA. He has six grandchildren who brought him tremendous joy and pride: Rick Fiorillo, Jack Barton, Helen Fiorillo, Josie Barton, Paul Fiorillo, and Mikey Fiorillo.
