DR. RICHARD M. RAY – OPTOMETRIST Dr. Richard M. Ray, 84, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 5, 2015 at home with his loving wife, Lois A. Ray at his side. Richard was born on October 19, 1930 in Wellington, Ohio to Clyde Vada Ray. He attended Wellington High School and after graduating served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge he graduated from the University of Texas and the Southern College of Optometry. He started his Optometric practice in Manassas, Virginia in 1961 till his retirement at age 72. He was a past member of the Manassas Host Lions Club, Manassas Rotary, Jaycees, Elks, Manassas Men’s Club, Scottish Rite Freemasons and the United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer, loved tennis, skiing, flying and traveling the world. He was always the life of the party. His greatest joy was his family, Lois A Ray, who he married on January 5, 1957, his children, Lori Ray-Butler (Robert), Marc R. Ray, Dr. Christi Ray (Alex), grandchildren, Jason L. Butler (Jessica), Samantha Ray Butler and great grandchildren, Cameron and Noah Butler. Also survived by his loving brother, Dr. Sidney Ray (Sharon), his sister, Mary Ellen Barna (Charles) and numerous nieces and nephews.
