Mr. Richard “Dick” Max Negley, 93 of Dahlonega passed away on December 8, 2022.  Mr. Negley was born in Fulton County, Illinois to Maurice and Goldie (Jackson) Negley. Growing up in Illinois and graduating from Farmington Community High School then later proudly serving for four years in the US Air Force. After completion of his military duties, he would go on to earn a BS at Western Illinois State College (Western III University), a MS at Florida State University, and a MA at University of Illinois. During his time there he was selected to appear in the 1954-55 addition of “Who’s Who” in American Universities and Colleges.  Dick was member of Kappa Chapter of Sigma Zeta and learned to speak German. Following his college career, Dick moved to Dahlonega. At that time, he would join the faculty as a teacher in the Math Department of NGC (University of North Georgia) and worked until his retirement as an Associate Professor in 1987. During that time Dick served on over 25 committees and was elected to membership of the Mathematical Association of America.

Mr. Negley was a longtime resident of Lumpkin County.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded by his brother James and brother-in-law Russ.

Mr. Negley is survived by his loving wife of almost 71 years Nancy; children, Debra (Tommy), Pam (Michael), Bill, (all of Dahlonega), Karen (Scott) (Murrayville), and Bob (Sonya) (Clermont); grandchildren, Heather (Hollis) Burnett, Melissa (Phillip) Underwood, Mathew Parker, Gabriel (Rachel) Snell, Jessica (Stephen) Schwartz, Kendra (Sherwood) Jacob Foster, Steven (Amanda) Negley, Taylor and Cooper Wilson, Casey (Tori) and Carson Negley; Stephanie Richardson, great-grandchildren; Clay and Lathan Burnett, Jamesleigh Parker, Maggie Underwood, Ethan and Skyla Schwartz, Caleb Snell, William “Liam” Negley, Sophia Foster, Jaxon Parker, Malkah Schwartz, Luke Snell, and Jackson Foster; sister Donna Vroman, brother Kent Negley (Virginia) and lots of nieces and nephews.
