Richard Lowell Tennis, 83, of Metamora, IL, formerly of Eureka, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
He was born on September 24, 1938 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Orvilda (Peterson) Tennis and Lowell Parnell Gregory Tennis. He married Margaret “Margo” Huff on June 26, 1965.
Surviving are his wife, Margo of Metamora; their children, Randy (Michele) Tennis of Pekin, IL, Martha (Jeff) Newell of Morton, IL, and Robert Craig Tennis of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Jenny (Tyler) Thomson of Ridgecrest, CA, Logan Schumacher of Eureka, and Maren Tennis of Pekin; and four great-grandchildren, Caitlynn Thomson, Gerald Thomson, Harmony Still, and Havyn Schumacher. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul.
Rich graduated from Austin High School in Austin, MN in 1958 and the University of Minnesota, St. Paul in 1963. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Caterpillar for 38 years and retired the first time in 2001. He returned as a consultant several times.
