Richard L. Nassiff Sr., of Willimantic, joined the love of his live in eternal peace on June 11, 2019. Richard, Dick as all knew him, was born in North Adams, MA, April 5, 1926, the son of Richard and Threasa (Mitchell), who emigrated from Maasser El Chouf, Lebanon in 1918. Dick was a humble and honorable man who was not afraid to love. Dick lived a life dedicated to his family, his community and the store he owned and operated for more than thirty years, Nassiff’s For Sports. He was predeceased by his wife and best friend Eleanor (Haddad), sister Theresa Simon, Brothers Fred Nassiff, Sam Nassiff and George Mitchell. He is survived by his sister Marie Aroian, children Susan, James and Jill (McNaulty), Richard Jr and Sonia (DiGiacomo), six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Dick was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict and served as a Staff Sgt. in the United States Air Force. He was a well-recognized figure in the community, serving many roles in local politics, initiating numerous youth athletics programs, as well as sponsoring many community athletic teams. He lived as a shining example of the guiding principle that we all must do something to serve.
