Richard LeRoy Brock, 84, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2016. Born in Middletown on November 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Ellis LeRoy Brock and Marion Ackerman. Survived by his wife Lilly Yates Brock and his children and their spouses; Terry Sheehan and husband Tom of Portland, Tracy Laroche and husband Jean of Middletown, Richard Y. Brock and wife Rachel of Middletown. He was predeceased by his daughter Joyce Coogan and her surviving husband Scott of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He leaves behind nine grandchildren; Emily and Meagin Sheehan, Claire and Mason Laroche, Gregory, Daniel, and Abigail Brock, and Jared and Bethany Coogan. He is also survived by his sister Mary Ella Hasbrouck and husband Frederick of Middletown. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Barbara Weil of Long Island, NY and Elizabeth Bialy of Middletown. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard operated the historic Brock Dairy Farm in Middletown CT, which was designated a National Bicentennial Farm from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and received Connecticut Century Farm Award. He was very active in the local farming community and served on numerous boards and committees. He served 14 years on the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Middlesex County ASC committee. In addition, he was a past president of the Middlesex County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed exhibiting cows at local fairs and shows. In addition, Richard was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved his dogs and the outdoors.
