Richard Lee Beavers, age 64, of Medora, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Bloomington Hospital on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 3:00 PM.
Richard was born on December 7, 1953, in Seymour, Indiana to Elzia Beavers and Eula May (Lonsberry) Beavers Murphin. On April 8, 1972, he married Brenda (Piatt) Beavers in North Vernon. She survives.
He was a logger his whole life. Richard started working at Hall’s Saw Mill in Medora at 16 years old. He went to work at the Medora Brick Company at age 17 and stayed there until it’s closing. After the brick company, he went to work at various jobs until reentering the logging business. Richard started working for the Hamilton Logging approximately 22 years ago where he was able to show his passion for the logging business. Throughout his years in the logging business, he was able to share his knowledge of logging and running the equipment for logging. He worked with a lot of people during his career sharing stories and teaching the art in logging. He enjoyed running the skidder the most. Anyone who worked with Richard knew he was driven by his job.
He was a loving father and grandfather. His family was his heart, they were his world. He shared his love of old muscle cars with family and friends.
Richard is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Brenda; his sons Shawn Richard Beavers and Joshua Dale Beavers; two granddaughter: Darian and Josie Beavers and a grandson: Damian Elzia Beavers; two sisters; Connie(Marvin) Reynolds and Peggy(Eddie) Smoot, and a brother; Steve (Pat) Beavers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-father: Albert Abe Murphin; a brother: Dennis Joe Beavers; and a sister: Darlene Brewer.
