Richard “Larry” Smith, 68, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare Systems after a sudden illness. He was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church and after marriage, became a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church. He retired from Mahle after 37 years of service. Larry was a former member of the South Hamblen Volunteer Fire Department.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Wilma Smith, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty Smith; daughter, Robin (Jared) Hale; beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Caleb Hale; sisters, Cheryl “Sherry” (Allen) Black; Gail Miller; brother, Stephen (Kim) Smith; brother-in-law, Kyle (Argel) Kinsler; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; special friend Doug (Renee) Shockley.
