Richard Lee Sheets, age 86, of DeMotte, passed away on August 1, 2017, at VNA Hospice of Valparaiso. Richard L.
“Dick” Sheets was born on October 6, 1930 in Montpelier, Indiana. He is the son of Claude and Clara (Bowman) Sheets. Dick was a graduate of Center High School in Delaware County, Class of 1948. He married Helen Smallwood on July 18, 1954 in Metz, Indiana. Dick was a shoe salesman for Noble’s Shoe store in Goshen, IN. He is a veteran of the United States Army. Dick was a member of the DeMotte United Methodist Church, American Legion of Wheatfield, Scottish Rite South Bend Valley, York Rite Rensselaer Chapter #150, Adoniram Council #109, HW Matherson Commandary #66, Warsaw Chapter #83 of OES, Golden Gems-DeMotte Seniors, and Tysens Coffee Club.
Dick is survived by his wife of 63 years: Helen Sheets; daughters: Jean (Bob) Nuss of DeMotte, IN; Donna (Mark) Adam of Eaton Rapids, MI; grandchildren: Katie Nuss, Shelly Adam, and Jessie (Andrew Ledman) Nuss.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Ruth Harrison, Mary Jane Cross, Alice Wright, Martha Lou Harvey; and brother: Charles “Bud” Sheets.
