Richard L. Mason, 76, Anderson, passed away December 17, 2008 at I.U. Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born July 2, 1932 in New Castle, Indiana, and resided in Anderson all of his life.

Richard served his country in the US Navy from 1953-1956. He retired in 1994 from Delco Remy after 44 years of service.

Richard was a member of Southdale Church of the Nazarene. He was an active participant of A.A. for 27 years, 9 months and 2 days. He loved to play sports at Daleville High School; Baseball, Basketball and Track. He faithfully attended his grandchildren’s activities. In his later years, he was an avid golfer. He loved to tell made up stories to all who would listen. Family was his prized earthly treasure. Most impressive was his faith in God.

He is survived by his wife and best friend whom he married May 19, 1957, Norma Carole Whitley Mason; children, Kendra Don Speck of Huber Heights, Ohio, Karen Neil Lodin of Noblesville, Thomas Deborah Mason of Camby, Gregory Lezlie Mason of Anderson, David Brooke Mason of Pendleton and Donald April Mason of Anderson; sister, LaDonna Clayton Chambless of Middletown; grandchildren, Bianca, Zane, Trisha, Sara, Mallory, Jodie, Jeremy, Matthew, Megan, Joshua, Alex, Andrew, Anna, Abby, Cameron, Brooke, Ian, Rylie and six great grandchildren; a niece and a nephew. Also surviving is his special dog, Wiggy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Florine Laurie Mason.
