Richard Joseph Heigl, 78, died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 15, 1939 in Winsted, MN to the late Bernard and Pearl Meurer Heigl. Richard was a US Army veteran and retired as a lifelong diesel mechanic. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents as well as his first wife, Betsy Poole Heigl.
Surviving are; his wife, Carol Ann Withrow Heigl of Youngsville; three children, Richard Heigl of Topsail, Joseph Heigl and wife, Angie of Raleigh, Sheila Hilliard and husband, Norbert of Kittrell; five step-children, Cynthia Holbert and Tim Young of WV, Wayne and Faye Winthrow of Wendell, Deborah and Paul Smith of WVm Wade and Bridgeta Winthrow of WV, Nikki and Jeff Crawford of Youngsville;four grandchildren, Ricky, Ashlee, Katee and Kyle; and many step-grandchildren, great-granchildren and great great grandchild; a brother, Robert Heigl and wife, Carol of WI.
