Richard Joseph DeCavitt, age 89, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, went to be with the Lord Jesus on June 11, 2023. Richard was born on January 3, 1934 to Joseph Joseph DeCavitt and Anastasia Morris DeCavitt in Detroit, Michigan. Richard was a graduate of Brunnerdale Seminary of Canton, Ohio in 1951, and a graduate of the University of Dayton, Ohio in 1956, with a Bachelor of Arts C.PP.S. Richard served selflessly as a Missionary Priest in La Oroya, Peru and experienced countless adventures many see only in motion pictures. After returning to North America, Richard worked for the State of Ohio Department of Mental Health as a Project Manager and as a Management Analyst. Richard married Sharon Roddy in 1979 and was a man of many hats and many responsibilities. Richard enjoyed retirement at the Wesley Ridge Retirement Community, and is survived by his step-sons Stephen Roddy, Daniel (Jennifer) Roddy; step-grandchildren Holli, Johnathan, Hannah, Laura.
Richard is preceded by his wife Sharon (Roddy) DeCavitt, and step-son Timothy Roddy; and sister Delores “Dee.”
