Richard “Joe” Cripe, age 71 of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away Sunday October 9, 2016. Joe was born in Lafayette, Indiana on June 25, 1945, the son of late Beatrice (nee Laswell) and Phillip Cripe. On August 28, 1965 in Rensselaer, he married Dorothy J. Wortley who survives. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Joe graduated from Rensselaer Central High School, the Class of 1963. He was previously employed as a sales representative for the Budweiser Brewery Company for 20 years. He later worked for and retired from the Indiana State Highway Department after 7 years of employment. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard from 1963 to 1968. Joe enjoyed spending his free time fishing, traveling with his wife and loving on his grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, one daughter, Teresa (Brian) Schuh of Remington, Indiana; two grandchildren, Brittnay (Andy) DeVries and Jacob Schuh, both of Remington, Indiana. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Brent, Rachel, Haley, Clayton and Carley; siblings, Tom (Marge) Cripe & Mike (Colleen) Cripe both of Goodland, Indiana, Dave Cripe of Lafayette, Indiana and Diane Long of Oxford, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Tammy Jo and Amy Jo Cripe.
