Richard Joe Asbury, age 75, of Berryville died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at his home with his family by his side. He was born June 5,1932 in Cardin, Oklahoma to the late Joe E. Jody Asbury and Ruby Molder Asbury. He served his county in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. On December 18, 1965 Richard married Esther Ortega in Richmond, TX. He was employed for several years as superintendent at Jacintoport Waste Water Plant in Channelview, TX. After his retirement around 1988 he and his family moved to Carroll County. He was a self- taught handyman with skills in carpentry, pluming, mechanics, welding, gardening and farming. In his spare time he enjoyed playing bluegrass and gospel music with his guitar. He was deeply devoted to all of his family and will be remembered, by all who knew him, as a quiet, gentle and kind person. He is survived by his wife Esther, of the home, two sons, Daniel Ramirez Asbury and his wife Lisa of Branson MO., James Richard Asbury of Berryville, two daughters, Cynthia Asbury Romo and husband Mosses of Wallis, TX., Siria Asbury Gill and husband Jeff of Fordyce, AR., four sisters Iva Lee Simpson and husband Tillman of Green Forest, Wanda Irvin of Hillsborough IL., Shirley Shinnebarger and husband Charles of Walnut Shade MO., Ethel Gardner of Green Forest, three brothers, William L Asbury of Berryville, Kenneth Asbury and wife Bonnie of Green Forest Leo Baldwin of Jacksonville IL., 20 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends,. He was preceded in death by his mother and dad, one brother, one sister and one son.
