Richard James BennettBorn 7-25-1933 Passed 9-20-2020Richard James, age 87, of Drexel Hill, PA formerly of Darby, passed away on September 20, 2020.Richie was born at home in Philadelphia. And in Philadelphia is were he met the love of his life, Adrienne. At 17 years of age he enlisted in the US Army where he received many honors which included: Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal National Defense Service Medal Certificate of Recognition Medal from the South Korean government in honor of his service. On returning home from overseas Richie finished his service with an honorable discharge. His son Sean followed in his father’s footsteps by also honorably serving our nation.Richie and Adrienne soon after moved to Darby PA That’s where they raised their six children on a railroad paycheck He started at Pennsylvania Railroad then Conrail and finally after 40 years he retired from his early years Richie also owned and operated several different drinking establishments.Boxing was a constant in Richie’s life as a young boy he picked up boxing from his father then passed the knowledge of the sport to his own son lil loved talking boxing. He trained, managed and volunteered his time to share what he knew of the sport. He spent most of his retirement in N. Wildwood NJ were volunteered at the Wildwood Boxing Club for many years. He was currently living in Drexel Hill with his daughter Kelly and son-in-law Michael.Richie also enjoyed all kinds of sports, gambling and hanging out at the bar. But most of all he loved his family. Especially his wife who he has been missing terribly since her passing in 2014. They are together now as I’m sure he rode my mother’s coattails into heaven. You were loved Dad. Godspeed. Predeceased by his beautiful wife Adrienne his son’s Richard James and Sean Timothy his parent’s Julia and Harry Bennett and his brother is survived by his loving daughters Maureen, Kelly (Michael), Adrienne and Christy his loyal sister Rose Marie DiEmedio his brother Joseph. 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
