Richard R. “Rich” Hunter, 56, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Richard was born October 7, 1956 in Bloomington to Richard and Ruth (Rogers) Hunter.
He graduated from Bloomington South in 1974. He then joined the Bloomington Police Department where he served for 32 years. Richard enjoyed golfing for many years and was a member of the Smithville Christian Church.
Richard is survived by his wife of 2 years Shirley (Deckard) Hunter of Bloomington, son Jacob (Sara) Hunter of Bloomington, mother Ruth Hunter of Carmel, step sons Josh Chenault (Desiree) ,Jeremy Chenault , and step daughter Elizebeth Hunter all of Bloomington, sister Susan Ryder (Brian) of Carmel, IN, grandchildren Cadence Hunter and Sean Holland, niece Kristi Powell and nephews Kyle Powell and Kurt Ryder (Carley) along with several aunts, uncles and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Walter and several aunts and uncles.
