Mr. Humes was born in Worcester, a son of the late Ralph and Gertrude (Young) Humes. A graduate of local schools and an Army veteran of the Korean War, he lived in Upton most of his life. He retired from the U. S.
Dick was a member and former deacon of the United Parish of Upton, a member of the Upton Historical Society, and had been a Boy Scout leader.
He leaves one son, Scott R. Humes of No. Bennington, VT; a stepson, Dudley Hickory of Phoenix, AZ; and two granddaughters, Jennifer and Sarah. He was also the brother of the late Robert and Beverly Humes and stepfather of the late William “Butch” Hickory.
