Richard H. Greene, 87, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 1:40 am on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at his residence. He was born on March 9, 1929 in Harrisburg, PA to James D. and Mary Belle (Sharf, Greene) Zeiders. He married Credwyn A. Mahannah on December 23, 1951 in Peoria, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his children Joan (David) Quigg of Chillicothe, IL, Sue (Larry) Davis of Houston, TX, Beth (Paul) Friling of East Peoria, IL, Sharon (Ron) Roberts of Mt. Prospect, IL, Richard (Dafne) Greene of Bloomington, IL and Eini VonBecker of Kerava, Finland; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his fatherly mentor Samuel M. Unger.

Richard was a graduate of Bradley University, Peoria, IL. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean War and was especially proud of serving in the select 5th Army Band where he played clarinet. He was a band director at Washburn High School, followed by owning and operating Greene’s Music in Freeport, IL for 20 years.
