Richard “Dick” George Czapiga, 70, of Cromwell, husband of Janice (Czaja) Czapiga for forty-five years, passed away surrounded by his loving family. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Bogdan) Czapiga. Richard was born and raised in Middletown attending local schools in the area. In 1965, Richard joined the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was assigned to the 2862 GEEA squadron. Returning in 1969, Richard returned to working at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Manufacturing, working in the engineering department for thirty-seven and a half years prior to his retirement in 2002. In 1973, Rich and Jan moved from Middletown to Cromwell and remained there to present.
