Richard Gay was born, the 4th of 6 children on March 14, 1934 to Ruth Ada Washington and Lemme Gay in El Paso, Texas. He moved to Denver with his Mother and Siblings as a young boy, over 70 years ago. He was shy and didn’t do a lot of talking unless he had something to say he thought was important. He was the baby of the family for quite a while until LeAndrew was born. Richard did not have a formal education, but was quick to learn. He later learned to read and write. He got his inspiration from the Holy Bible. Richard was a member of the huge Boyd Family and always had family around. In his teens, he enjoyed boxing and being around his siblings, JC, Leroy, Moses, LeAndrew, and Ruth Ellen “Cooky” as well as his many cousins.
