Richard G. Slamp, 69, of Nora formerly of Davis died Monday May 23, 2011 at Stephenson Nursing Center Freeport.
Born May 4, 1942 at Deaconess Hospital in Freeport he was the son of Kenneth and Bernice (Zimmerman) Slamp. On May 13, 1967 he and Kathryn Koch were united in marriage in Freeport. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Richard farmed his whole life starting in Dakota and the Davis area, later moving to Winslow and Nora area. For 20yrs he milked cows winning top dairy awards a couple of years. His memberships included the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, Stephenson County Farm Bureau, Winslow Night Riders and Warren Winter Warriors Snowmobiling Clubs. He was also an original board member of the Adkins Energy Ethanol Plant. Richard enjoyed his time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed riding motorcycle, restoring tractors and traveling with his wife and friends.
Surviving are his wife of Nora; three children Randy (Tracie) Slamp of Nora, Julie (Dave Anderson) Slamp of Winnebago, Kimberly (Dave) Fosler of Scales Mound; six grandchildren Haley and Seth Slamp of Nora, CPL. Brad Fosler of Cherry Point, NC, Dylan Fosler of Warren, Connor and Collin Fosler both of Scales Mound; two brothers Robert (Jane) Slamp of Caledonia, Rodney (Marcia Vondra) Slamp of Davis; one sister Janice Merchant of Winnebago; nieces and nephews and Buddy the dog.
Preceding him in death are his parents, brother-in-law Theodore Merchant, sisters-in-law Delores Slamp and Kathy Koch, two nephews and two nieces.
